What is lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema is swelling caused by the accumulation of lymph fluid in the tissues.

If you have lymphoedema, you may experience discomfort, loss of movement, reduced quality of life and increased risk of infections.

Our lymphoedema treatment can relieve your discomfort, increase your function and prevent your lymphoedema from getting worse. We also offer education programs that will give you the skills you need to help manage this chronic condition.

Surveillance & Early Intervention

Before and after cancer treatment

If you have had surgery to remove lymph nodes and/or radiotherapy, you may be at risk of developing lymphoedema. Early identification and intervention improves treatment outcomes.

We aim to reduce the likelihood of you developing lymphoedema through pre-op assessments, post-op monitoring, preventative treatment and education.

Lymphoedema treatment

Treatment helps prevent the progression of the lymphoedema and maintain your lifestyle priorities and goals.

After an assessment, we will establish a treatment plan in consultation with you. We’ll select the right treatment for you from a variety of options to help you get the best outcomes.

Our treatments range from lymphatic massage (manual lymphatic drainage - MLD) to intensive programs of Complex Lymphoedema Treatment (CLT), the gold standard in lymphoedema therapy. All our treatments are based on the latest research to ensure you get the best results.

Lipoedema

Lipoedema is a painful chronic condition characterised by excess fatty tissue. Usually lipoedema occurs at the hips and upper legs but it may also affect the arms. Lymphoedema treatment techniques can also be applied to treat Lipoedema.

We can complete an assessment and discuss a personalised plan to help you manage this condition.
