Can lymphoedema be treated?

While lymphoedema is a chronic condition that cannot be cured there are many treatment options available so that it can be effectively managed. Through assessment and discussion with you about your goals for treatment and lifestyle, a personalised plan can be developed. Check out the treatment page for more information or contact us to discuss.

I’ve just had an operation and I feel my arm/leg is swelling. What should I do?

Post operative swelling is a normal response of the body. When you have had lymph nodes removed it can be harder for your lymphatic system to cope with this. Use of L-dex (bioimpedance spectroscopy) can help to identify early signs of lymphoedema. Check out the early intervention and surveillance page for further information on preventing the progression of lymphoedema.

Do I need a referral to see you?

As a category 1 therapist Nicola can assess and treat all types of Lymphoedema and Lipoedema so while a referral is preferreble it is not required. If you don’t have a referral please bring along any medical documents relating to your condition if you have them. Contact us if you have any questions or would like to book an appointment.
